Square Enix Montreal rebrands as Onoma to “connect with new audiences”

[ad_1]

Sq. Enix Montreal has rebranded as Onoma so it has extra freedom because it seeks to develop and “join with a number of audiences.”

The branding pivot comes shortly after the studio was sold to Swedish conglomerate Embracer Group together with different notable Sq. Enix studios and properties.

The Hitman Sniper and Lara Croft Go developer described the branding pivot as a “new chapter,” and mentioned it intends to create “a number of merchandise, packages, and initiatives, every with distinct personalities.”

“Our power has at all times been our means to evolve and adapt to traits and market modifications. Our rebrand as Studio Onoma is yet one more transformation that we’re excited to tackle,” it added. “We have now constructed the Onoma model to be versatile to see us into the long run, join with a number of audiences, and never hinder us from increasing with the market.”

As for why the crew selected the moniker Onoma, they mentioned the phrase is Greek for “identify” and claimed “names supply limitless prospects.”

The announcement itself is stuffed with loads of PR padding, however in the event you’re thinking about how the studio’s in-house design crew developed and refined the model, it is still worth checking out.

For these of you who do not feel like wading by means of reams of philosophical musings about font curvatures and line utilization, simply do not forget that Sq. Enix Montreal is Onoma now, and apparently it has some fairly massive plans within the works.
